The Belgian Sheepdog is the most popular of the Belgian Shepherd dog breeds, which consist of the " Belgian Tervueren ", " Belgian Malinois ", “ Belgian Sheepdog ” and “ Laekenois ”. This is a well-balanced, muscular, strong dog breed. It’s agile, alert and full of life. It’s obedient and loyal. The Belgian Sheepdog is good with children but should not play rough housing or chase games. It may not tolerate other children. This dog breed is highly intelligent and easy to train. The Belgian Sheepdog makes a gentle and devoted companion. It has high prey drive, it tends to chase pets, bikers, joggers, cars, etc. It is very touch sensitive. Early obedience training and socialization will prevent puppies from developing a sharp temper. Take extra care when introducing a new pet. It is susceptible to separation anxiety syndrome. Make sure as puppy it learns to accept isolation. It may be over-protective and stubborn. It is watchful, attentive, and always in motion when not under command. It makes a good watchdog. It’s suspicious, cautious, and vigilant with strangers, but not apprehensive. With those the dog knows well, it is affectionate and friendly, zealous of their attention, and very possessive. It needs an active, firm, and patient leader. It should not show fear or shyness. It should not show viciousness by unwarranted or unprovoked attack.
